Liberty fabrics

Mention the word ‘Liberty’ to anyone who enjoys dressmaking and sewing, and the response is usually “Oooh I love Liberty fabrics”. Since1875 Liberty has been producing their own range of distinctive and recognisable fabrics, all designed from the in-house studio at Liberty London.

A team of eighteen creatives originate and develop the collections, often drawing from Liberty’s print archive for inspiration and reinterpretation, delivering over 250 unique and unmistakably Liberty fabric designs each year.

The fabrics are printed by Liberty’s own Italian mill onto a range of base fabrics including Liberty’s own iconic Tana Lawn™, linen and of course silk. Stunning designs and a palette of glorious and joyful colours make Liberty fabrics that allow the maker to produce something that not just looks really special but feels really special too.

Its certainly something very special to pay a visit to Liberty’s London store and spend time in the fabric department, feasting your eyes on the riot of colour and standout designs, being about to feel the fabrics and getting lots of inspiration for your next sewing make.
